Horn Diplomacy

Here's an interesting artifact of the Cold War* - a recording of a jazz ensemble that traveled to Moscow in 1962 on a "Jazz Mission" arranged (in two senses of the word) by Al Cohn.

Players on this disc include Zoot Sims, Phil Woods, Jerry Dodgion, Gene Allen, Jimmy Maxwell Markie Markowitz, Willie Dennis, Eddie Costa, Bill Crow, and Mel Lewis.

1. Mission To Moscow
2. The Sochi Boatman
3. Midnight in Moscow
4. Let's Dance
5. Russian Lullaby
6. Red, White and Blue Eyes

Jazz Mission To Moscow

*note the "commie red" album cover - coincidence?
