Blogmass Day One 2012 Happy Holly Days Album 3

Welcome to the first day of Blogmass 2012!

We start out this year with a set of recordings that apparently did at least double duty, appearig on both Happy Holly Days Album 3 and Zenith Presents Christmas A Gift of Music Vol. 4 (yes, I own both). Any album whose liner notes contain the phrase "everlastingly popular entertainers" is likely gonna be heavy on the schmaltz and "parents music" singers, and this one doesn't disprove the rule. When Fred Waring is the peppiest artist on the disc...

Still. it's pretty good late-night music while watching snow fall - not that I'd know about that here in South Carolina.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/Jingle Bells/Good King Wenceslas - 101 Strings
Caroling, Caroling - Nat King Cole
We Wish You a Merry Christmas/Silver Bells - Al Martino
Little Drummer Boy - The Lettermen
Sleigh Ride - Fred Waring & the Pennsylvanians

Little Altar Boy - Glen Campbell
Christmas Waltz - Peggy Lee
Twelve Days of Christmas - New Sounds of Christmas
Away In A Manger - Ella Fitzgerald
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing - Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra
