Grandma, again

Here's the fifth installment of the Grandma 45's series (about 45 minutes).

Highlights for me are the two Marilyn Sellars tracks (cuts 01 and 02), Eddy Arnold (cuts 05 and 06) and the second Beverly Buff track, which has a nice shuffle and twangy guitar (cut 14). Lowlights: Donnie and Marie, Randy Travis.

A Late Spring Break

Here's a New Airwaves (WUTK-FM) show from spring break 1984, with your hosts Q and Echo.

On a personal note, I was on the Outhouse Tape that night (though it's not on this recording), the promo of which was mauled by the hosts.

All the power of your average toaster

Two airchecks from WUTK-FM in the mid/late 80's; probably from within the 10 PM -2 AM timeframe.

Those of you who were there during that time will remember the little cheap cassette recorder that sat to the left of the main board and that went into record when the mic switch was turned on (or you could pull the remote cable and just record the whole airshift, as was done here).

Set 01

Robben Ford, Box of Frogs, Clive Pig, The Wrong Band, Tina Turner, The Buzzcocks

Set 02

Run-DMC, Lou Reed, Empty Feels, Pop-O-Pies (and I love that the mis-speed start was kept on the cart), Flipper, Tina Turner (again), Ozzy, Gefilte Joe, Weird Al, Scott Beach, The Members, The Call, Trio - hmm, I kind of get the impression that I may have strayed from the rotation and just played what I wanted to out of the carts.

Bonnaroo? No, but here's Ashley (two)

Two Unradio's from Mr. 'Roo himself, Ashley Capps.

I'm too lazy today to sit down and figure out the dates, but the killer Grace Jones "Nightclubbing" track makes it at least post-1981.
